The partnership will enable gamers to continue to enjoy their favorite games and trade virtual goods without depending on centralized servers. Proof of Concept was presented at the Sub0 Conference on October 14.
Integritee has announced a partnership with the decentralized gaming platform Ajuna. The Ajuna platform provides a simplified way for Unreal and Unity developers to build an incentive layer into their games using tokenized virtual goods. The partnership with Integritee will allow Ajuna to run entire gaming engines in trusted execution environments to create fast, secure, and scalable decentralized gaming ecosystems.
The collaboration is focused on solving a growing problem in the gaming world: When centralized game publishers discontinue support for a particular game and take it offline, all virtual goods associated with it become worthless. The ultimate goal of the Ajuna project is to develop an interoperable, decentralized gaming ecosystem where virtual goods can be exchanged. This will mean that wherever an active community of willing players exists, they can continue to enjoy their favorite game, own and control virtual goods associated with it, and trade them in a decentralized community.
To kick off the partnership, Integritee demonstrated a proof of concept this week at the Substrate developer conference Sub0 Online on Thursday, October 14 at 9pm CEST. Like Integritee, Ajuna is based on Substrate, the modular blockchain development framework that underpins the Polkadot ecosystem. The demonstration showed how an Integritee side chain running in a Substrate pallet can be used to enable timed disclosure of confidential player moves through a decentralized game engine. Beyond confidentiality, Ajuna is also keen to harness other characteristics of Integritee relevant to gaming applications, including its low latency, sub-second block times, and scalability.
Integritee Co-Founder Alain Brenzikofer said: “Gaming is a perfect example of an industry where users can benefit from owning and controlling virtual tokens without depending on intermediaries. That’s why we are excited about partnering with Ajuna — an emerging pioneer in the field of decentralized gaming ecosystems.”
Ajuna Co-Founder Cédric Decoster said: “We create a win-win both for gamers and for creators. Preserving in-game usage of NFTs will maintain value and create an unseen ecosystem for games. With Integritee’s solution, we can enable creators to be competitive in the traditional non-blockchain gaming market as TEE provides us with a solution for fast interactions, move hiding, interoperability, and scalability — each of those requirements are essential for game engines. Deploying a real game engine is far superior to using smart contracts or even a layer one solution. In particular, if it is independent of the publisher, that ensures the value and consistency of playable NFTs.”
Ajuna Network is a decentralized ecosystem for gamers and creators. It eases the creation of a tokenized incentive layer and provides seamless integration with modern game development environments such as Unity and Unreal. Built on Substrate, Ajuna can leverage the full potential of the Polkadot ecosystem and provide developers with a modular toolbox to build on-chain features into their games. Ajuna’s ultimate goal is to create real value for both gamers and developers by providing a fully interoperable decentralized ecosystem for games and their virtual goods. Ajuna Network
